The Job We are looking for an energetic, confident and enthusiastic qualified nursery practitioner who has worked with under 2's previously, with excellent leadership skills or an already experienced Room leader to join our private day care setting in Croydon as a Senior Nursery Practitioner. Our Baby Room caters for 9 babies at one time. As a Senior nursery practitioner you are a key member of the nursery team responsible for delivering high quality care and learning opportunities for children, based on the needs and interests of those children, there will be 2 other practitioners who will be working in the room alongside you. Some of the duties will include: Promoting positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues. Ensure health and safety and well being of the children. Support the children's development, learning and play. Be a key person for a small group of children, carrying out all related responsibilities and building relationships with them and their families. Providing inspiration to nursery children through exciting activities in all areas of learning whilst incorporating the EYFS. Taking the Key Person responsibilities for children in a group, adhering to Daily Routine, Rota’s and Themes ensuring that the children in their care benefit fully from the resources available. Observing and planning based on the Early Years Foundation Stage. Help to ensure children in their care benefit fully from the resources available. Completion of children’s records and observations to be transferred to individual records as necessary. Work positively with management towards parental involvement by informing parents of their children’s progress, general content of day and attending parent days or evenings and fetes etc as well as inviting input from parents and adhering to their wishes as far as the care of their children are concerned, within the policies of the setting. Maintain environment in clean and tidy condition ensuring that equipment is cared for and respected. Refer to cleaning schedule. Attend staff meetings as required, and carry out room meetings when required. As a matter of routine equipment must be checked regularly and removed immediately if defective. Defective equipment to be passed to maintenance in order that steps may be taken to repair/dispose of equipment. Assist in continuing development of procedures designed to ensure nursery operates as efficiently as possible. Working as part of the overall team for the furtherance of the nursery to the benefit of the children using the nursery. Help to continually develop the role of nursery practitioner in a proactive, positive manner. Work as part of a team - particular supporting and guiding staff in your room. The planning and preparation of activities, to meet children’s individual needs, liaising with parents and negotiating working targets ensuring effective communication within the nursery. Keeping and monitoring accident, incident and risk assessment records. Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment. Supervision and effective mentoring of Trainee Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner and students. Providing a good role model for Students and Trainee Nursery Practitioner, Nursery Practitioner and helping new staff to fit into the nursery. Inform practitioners if an accident, incident and risk assessment records. Supervision of meals and mealtimes. We are looking for experienced nursery nurses or room leaders who have an NNEB or possess an NVQ 2 or 3 in childcare to join our growing team. The following requirements are also essential: To have worked with under 5's in a nursery environment. Possess an NVQ 2 or 3 in childcare. The ability to write quality observations. Possess a sound knowledge of the EYFS curriculum. Planning skills /experience. Sound knowledge and experience writing 2 year progress checks Desirable: Possess a rolling DBS Paediatric First Aid Safeguarding Children Other: 40 hours a week 8 hour shifts typically 9.00am and 6.00pm Monday-Friday, but may vary depending.
