York Childcare is a non profit charity with the aim of providing quality childcare for families in York. We are run by a committee of voluntary Trustees. We have three children’s day nurseries which provide full and part-time day care for children in the 6 weeks to 5 years age group. Each of our nurseries are Ofsted inspected, offer home-cooked food and have their own outdoor play areas.

We also provide an Out of School Club management service to several clubs across the city providing breakfast, after school and holiday clubs for children aged 2 years – 12 years.

Early Years Practitioner   We currently have the opportunity for a Full Time (37.5 hours p/week) Early Years Practitioner to join our team on a permanent basis at Josephs Nursery.   The successful candidate must be able to work flexible shift patterns enabling the nursery to offer care from 7.30am to 6pm.   Responsibilities   To be committed to providing a stimulating, safe and caring Nursery environment which is fully inclusive and enables each child to reach their full potential. To act as a Key Person for a group of children. To assist in supporting students on placement and to act as mentor for NVQ trainees and other new/junior staff. To organise the room and other duties in the absence of the Room Manager. To assume responsibility for a specific area as allocated.   Experience   We are looking for a committed, self motivated person who enjoys providing high quality childcare to children. You must be a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who can work on your own initiative as well as part of a team. Must have knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage and a minimum of Level 3 Qualification in childcare / education / learning in the early years. Early Years or EYITT Professional Status is an advantage. GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English is desirable.   Salary The starting salary will be £15,268.50 with the potential to rise after completion of a successful probationary period. Under Two’s Room Manager   We currently have the opportunity for a Part Time (22.5.5 hours p/week) Room Manager to join our team on a temporary basis to cover the current post holders maternity leave, at Josephs Nursery.   The successful candidate must be able to work flexible shift patterns enabling the nursery to offer care from 7.30am to 6pm. Usual working days will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.   Responsibilities   To be fully committed to providing a stimulating, safe and caring Nursery environment which enables each child to reach their full potential. To be responsible for leading the learning experiences for children in the nursery to ensure that they make good progress within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and ensure standards outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage are met. To be responsible for supporting staff in expanding their knowledge in how to deliver effective and innovative learning opportunities for children. To act as a Key Person for a group of children. This role includes regular completion of children’s progress records (including use of Tapestry software where appropriate). To be responsible for a team of Early Years Practitioners and to be proactive in team building, staff motivation and developing the staff to their maximum potential. To be a positive role model to the team To provide a fully inclusive environment for children, staff and parents. To ensure compliance of Health, Safety and Welfare standards within the Nursery. To ensure adequate provision is delivered in all areas, such as catering, cleaning and general maintenance. To liaise with the Nursery Manager to ensure maximum occupancy levels. To analyse tracking ensuring that each child is fully equipped to move to the next stage of their care and education and reflect on changes / adaptations which may be required as a consequence. To reflect on actions needed to raise children’s attainments in areas where they fall below expected levels.    Experience   We are looking for a committed, self-motivated, enthusiastic person who enjoys providing high quality childcare to children. We require a flexible and adaptable person who can demonstrate the ability to work using their own initiative and who is able to co-ordinate the smooth running of the Nursery and lead the team at times when the Nursery manager is not present. Must be able to share knowledge and learning with others in order to lead development. We operate from Joseph’s, Heather’s and Scarcroft Green Nurseries.   Full time positions are for 37.5 hours per week, working within flexible shift patterns enabling nurseries to offer care from 7.30am to 6pm all year.   Part time positions are also available.   RESPONSIBILITIES To be committed to providing a stimulating, safe and caring Nursery environment which is fully inclusive and enables each child to reach their full potential.   EXPERIENCE We are looking for a committed, self motivated person who enjoys providing high quality childcare to children.
