Job Details

We are an inclusive early years setting, working closely with a range of children and their families. The nursery has been running for 10 years and are fortunate to have a hard working, respectful, passionate and friendly staff team.

With the development of our new nursery building we are looking to recruit a senior practitioner to support in our strive to providing outstanding care to children and their families. The post is for 36 hours a week/full time,  for 52 weeks of the year. However, we are closed between Christmas and the New Year. We are open Monday to Friday, 7.30am-6pm

The senior job role is a mix of working on the floor with the children as well as supporting the management with the day to day running, having individual responsibilities and working independently or part of a team to complete tasks. Each staff member has an induction, including virtual college/e-learning and has opportunities throughout the year for training and development.

Senior responsibilities:

  • To plan, organise and facilitate the running a nursery room working in partnership with the Nursery senior management team to ensure Ofsted requirements and the ECM outcomes are met.
  • To ensure the physical environment promotes active learning and reflects the key areas of learning in the EYFS
  •  To work in partnership with parents actively engaging them in their child’s learning 
  • To represent KIDS professionally in all contacts with external agencies preparing reports as and when required.
  • To comply with all KIDS policies and procedures particularly around equal opportunities, safeguarding and health and safety.
  • To work closely with professionals to improve communication between agencies.
  • To line manage staff effectively supporting them to meet targets and encourage good practice.
  • To enable staff to actively engage in the planning and assessment process to enhance children’s learning in a safe and stimulating environment.
  • To ensure the key person system is properly implemented encouraging professional relationships that are warm and caring.
  • To lead team meetings, participate in staff meetings and engage in the Nursery senior management team meetings.
  •  To implement baseline assessments and Individual Education Plans specific to individual needs with the support of the QTS and Inclusion co-ordinators
  •  To ensure the physical environment is child focused and welcomes all children, families and professionals celebrating diversity and the children’s work.
  •  To attend training and supervision sessions to enhance ongoing professional development

£20,598-£23,908
