Childcare Practitioners (Level 3) / Assistant Practitioners and Bank Staff (RG17)
Our client's business is based across two sites in Hungerford, both registered with Ofsted.
One site, opened in 2004 provides nursery care for children from three months to three years old. It is rated by Ofsted as 'outstanding', and provides an exceptional quality of childcare, learning and interaction in a modern, purpose built, facility.
The second site is a newly refurbished, modern, purpose built facility opened in 2016 providing pre-school, afterschool and holiday club childcare for children from three years to eight years old with the aim to replicate and extend exceptional quality of childcare, learning and interaction provided by the original site.
The business also provides a range of creche services to the local council across the area.
Our clients are looking to appoint Childcare Practitioners / Assistant Childcare Practitioners on a full, part time or job share basis. The salary will be from £7.70 per hour (Practitioner) and £7.50 per hour (Assistant) but will be negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
They are also looking to recruit a number of Bank Staff at the same level.
Bank staff will cover sickness, holidays and breaks on an agreed ad-hoc basis. They could be covering rotas all-year round or just school term-time.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Care and supervision of children within the childcare environment during normal operating hours
Recording and monitoring of accident, incident and risk assessment records
Care and supervision of children on outing during normal operating hours
Liaison with parents
Planning and preparation of activities
Supervision of Childcare Assistants (Practitioner) & Students
Completing children's development records
Mentoring of Childcare Assistants (Practitioner) & Students
Recording observations of children
Attendance at pre-arranged regular staff meetings
Positive management of children's behaviour
Attendance at pre-arranged parents' evenings, and other out-of-hours events (by agreement)
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification (for the Practitioner role).
To display a positive, enthusiastic and patient manner when working with children of all ages.
To identify the physical, emotional and intellectual needs of the children in the childcare facility.
To have good communication skills (visual, oral and written) - particularly in relation to communication with children.
To keep childcare and child-related data and information strictly confidential (guidance can be obtained from the Senior Practitioner or Childcare Manager).
Paediatric first aid qualification or working towards obtaining a qualification.
Basic food hygiene qualification or working towards obtaining a qualification.
Basic computer skills
Working knowledge of Early Years Foundation Standards (Practitioner role).
Basic knowledge of Early Years Foundation Standards (Assistant role).
To provide a 'role model' for Childcare Assistants (Practitioner role) and Students (both roles).
Direct Report to a Senior Childcare Practitioner, who has responsibility for a childcare room.
